The Public Good Law Firm is a remote-first firm based in California with the mission of providing better legal services to nonprofits, social entrepreneurs, and other organizations that are making the world a better place.
We have seen how both new and established nonprofits struggle to find the legal help they need to start their organization and remain compliant with the complex legal and tax requirements. Our goal is to provide the resources and assistance that can accommodate all sizes of budgets, including free resources and predictable payment plans.
In an era of corporate greed, we also strive to aid for-profit organizations and social entrepreneurs interested in exploring ways to use their profits to generate social change.

Christine is the founder of the Public Good Law Firm and an experienced researcher, problem solver, innovative thinker, and believer in organizations that make the world a better place.
Hi, I’m Christine Mathias.
I have over 15 years of legal experience, and I am passionate about nonprofits and entrepreneurship. After graduating from law school in 2009, I started my own general law practice in Vermont. After moving to California, I worked as a law librarian for courthouses and law schools, which allowed me to hone my skills in researching state and federal law. I started my law practice in the rural high desert, specializing in business and estate planning.
In addition to my experience as an attorney, I was the co-founder and executive director of Girls Rock Vermont, a nonprofit music camp for girls. I also served as the director of the Placitas Community Library, an independent nonprofit organization. My experience ranges from starting a nonprofit from scratch to managing a team of over 100 volunteers and a $1 million capital campaign.
I handle business formations, tax-exempt status applications, contracts, trademarks, fundraising guidance, employee and volunteer management, and other transactional matters for nonprofits and social entrepreneurs.
I am admitted to practice in the State of California.
